I know there is companies that charge to change meters from pre payment to credit but is the price set in stone has anybody managed to haggle them down?

As far as I know, some do it free, some charge (fees around £60). Usually the big 6 are the ones who are less likely to charge.
Ring your supplier and check. They will do a credit check on you though.0 -
Scottish power charge over £200 per meter, EDF are known to do it for free. BG have done it for free and also charged £60 , so it does nt appear to be set in stone. Maybe a plea to provide a bond or go on direct debit may help your cause, but stick with it because you can lower your bills over 30 % from the dreaded inconvenient prepays. Easy to switch your prepay supplier gaining cashback at the same time to a more willing supplier0

Most large energy companies are free, BG for one, however they'll compete a credit check first.0
