New Home Phone - with call blocker

I've worked form home most of the past two weeks, and been plagued with nuisance calls. Probably about six a day, two thirds of which are silent. Mostly from call centres in India asking me to complete a survey.
Anyway...as a result I have decided to change the phones (which are old anyway) to a version that will allow me to block calls.
I looked at the new BT phones, then went off them because Which don't really rate the BT phones. they prefer Panasonic and Gigaset.
I was just wondering if anyone was using these call blocking phones and found them effective, and whether any particular manufacturer was best?
Thanks in advance.

Buy a plug in call blocker? I added one to my BT phones and no more calls.. none now for quite a while.
The BT phones i have will only block 10 actual numbers, the call blocker was £25 and i can add over 1000 numbers as well as set rules like block all withheld or unknown.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
If you search the "Consumer Rights" or "Praise, Vent & Warning" forums you will find loads of call blocker phones and advice from people who have used them.0

The latest Which? report puts the BT 8500 as top for call blocking facilities but marks it down somewhat for sound quality.
Seems to be the one to go for if call blocking is the main criteria, otherwise the Panasonic KX-TGJ320EB is the recommended Best Buy all-rounder.
I have a bog-standard BT phone and although the sound quality is nothing to get excited about it is certainly acceptable.0 -

Thanks, but the phones we have are old and just about had it, so didn't just want to get a separate unit. The new BT phones you can block up to 1000 numbers.0

Have a look at BT 8500 Digital Cordless Answer Phone with Advanced Call Blocker Refurbished at £26.99 for single handset See here
Multiple handset options available.
Just if you happen to be looking its cheaper here for the bigger packs, don't think they are refurb either :http://www.ligo.co.uk/bt-8500-quad-phone0 -
BT 8500. We haven't had a single nuisance call in the year since getting them and we were getting up to 5 a day before. Paid for themselves too as the answer phone function meant we could cancel the 1571 service.
Just remember with any call blocking device you really need to have caller display. Otherwise the unit can't read the incoming call number and will intercept or block every call.0
