Financial association

Hi,
My ex husband is showing in my credit file as a financial connection (last confirmed March 2010 by Barclays Bank). When I queried this with the bank they assured me that it would drop off my credit file after six years, is this correct? From what I have read on here it seems financial connections stay on forever unless a financial disassociation is completed. Please can you advise on which info is correct?
I am hoping to apply for a mortgage next year and need to remove all traces of the past!
Many thanks

You can request to have the financial association removed from your credit report. If you contact each of the three credit reference agencies and tell them that you are no longer financially associated with your ex husband, they'll remove it. They'll only remove it provided there are no active joint accounts. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

True. It's apparently beyond the capabilities of the CRAs to remove financial associations when no joint products exist.0 -
Contact all the CRA's and ask for it to be removed; its a very simple process (I have done this myself)
