So Google have agreed to pay £130m in tax for the last 10 years.
Is it just me or does anyone else think this is unjust?

Do you think that Google should have been forced to pay more tax? 52 votes

On what grounds would they have to pay more ??0
-
On the grounds that they should be taxed on their profits made from the country of operational origin as opposed to their non-operatinal country of domicile.
I wold love to have an accommodation address in the Cayman Islands, work in the UK, but pay little or no tax but somehow I don't tink HMRC would allow it for little old me!!On what grounds would they have to pay more ??0 -
What tax amount would they pay in the UK ??
Or have HMRC not assessed them for UK tax ??0 -
It just needs the other avoiders to cough up as well.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

But are they doing anything illegal?
If they are not, then you need to lobby the Government to change the tax laws.
Saying it's 'unjust' won't get you anywhere.
The law needs to change to stop it happening - not just by Google but all the other large companies who do the same.0 -
where is the 'I don't care' option?0

It's not "unjust". If they were legally obliged to pay it then HMRC could/would have enforced it years ago. Blame successive governments for allowing these tax loopholes to exist and not pulling their fingers out to close them.0

It costs us about £33m a day to belong to the EU, so thank you Google, you've just contributed about 4 days worth of our net contribution. Not exactly going to make a lot of difference to the country is it?0

It's very naive to expect any company to pay more tax than they can get away with paying. It costs us about £33m a day to belong to the EU, so thank you Google, you've just contributed about 4 days worth of our net contribution. Not exactly going to make a lot of difference to the country is it?
Don't blame the company or the individual - blame the tax laws that allow this to happen.0 -

I'm blaming neither the individual nor the company. I'm blaming the crazy tax system which means that the richer you are the more able you are to be able to avoid paying tax.
How many a/cs are held by politicians in tax havens around the world - little wonder that there would appear to be a general reluctance to actually change anything.0
