Video for website

Options
Hi There,

I wondered whether anyone could advise on how to get video onto a website and perhaps have it run as a streaming video? I have a .mov file, a simple slide show, and would like to have it stream from a web page. Do I have to have it formatted especially for that purpose or hosted somewhere special?

Cheers
Andy

Easiest way would be upload it to youtube and then embed it in you're page.

That would be an option I suppose. Might be worth considering.

I would think its the best idea as it will keep the bandwidth away from you're site and allow you're visitors get a fast stream.
  • Depending on the type of service/product you offer on your website it maybe an idea to contact Brand G Media, as they do OVM “Online visual marketing” from start to finish, they film, edit, present, then stream the video onto your website we had one done for our chambers earlier this year as a training guide for potential pupils, it’s worked rather well. I don't know the chaps full name but we all referred to him as G and his number is as follows - 07812 027701.

If not, he maybe able to best advise you in the best course of action

    Hope this helps

Prefer to keep it all in-house to be honest.
But thanks for the info anyway.

I'd go with the above suggestion of YouTube.

You can even be more dynamic and request videos via their webservice. It basically throws you back a load of xml for all your videos.

I use it on my site, I pull back the xml, turn each video into an object, and can list them all on my site, by tag, title, sort them in any way I want etc... etc...
