keep gettin pop ups from internet explorer some not appropriate while kids are about, although kids don't use pc unless supervised if at all.
some of them are rather annoying "you've won this and that" pop ups which i've noticed has the kids email address and contact details on. how do i get rid of them?
this might sound silly but i'm not totally savvy when it comes to pc's i can do what i need to do and when i need to do it but we don't use internet explorer we use aol
any suggestions?

SO if I understand this correctly; you use the AOL browser, and while you are surfing (in AOL) you get pop-ups in Internet Explorer?.....0

Don't use the AOL browser. Use Firefox or IE7. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I'm not sure i understand this, is it a website popup if it is install noscripts a firefox addon.
it will disable javascript for certain sites stopping the popups.0 -
Indeed, http://www.getfirefox.com
Firefox will block most pop-ups on its own.You can then download Adblock plus which will block pretty much all ads on sites, including banners and stuff like that.If you are on AOL dial-up, then I believe you sill still need to dial up with the AOL explorer program, but then you can just minimise that and use firefox. If you are on AOL broadband and are permanently connected, then you should just be able to load firefox straight away.0 -
right i've downloaded firefox so when i connect to aol broadband do i minimise and use firefox instead?
i've only been having this problem the last few weeks.
