Claiming Historic Bank Charges.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and this is the first time I've ever posted on a board at all, so please bear with me as it is quite long winded.
I'm after information on claiming back bank charges that put me in severe financial difficulties starting approximately 16 years ago. This carried on for a number of years during which I was constantly living in my overdraft and consistently going over the overdraft limit. This in turn attracted numerous returned direct debit charges and over overdraft charges which sent me even more into a spiral of debt. This eventually lead us to have to sell our home and move into council accommodation as we couldn't afford the mortgage due to the spiralling returned direct debit charges, which then led to the break up of my marriage.
My question is as the account is now closed as I am in a DMP and they came to a settlement figure, am I able to reclaim the charges that were made as it caused me financial hardship.
Thanks in anticipation of your replies.

Its too late.
The financial hardship method applies to CURRENT financial hardship and you have to have a current banking relationship with them (i.e. not a closed account).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Just continue with your DMP and get on with your life. This really is like crying over spilt milk.0
