Oh marie, I havent bought lunch ( well I did have a bag of chips abou 6 weeks ago) for months!
im just too tight these days a cup of tea for 1.50 would have me moaning on about how you can get 80 teabags for 1.50 and somewhere they will be on bogof :rotfl::beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
tiny bit of moneysaving yesterday, popped into tescos to buy some creme fraiche, and usually get the healthy living one, but noticed that the Finest one was 1p cheaper! So bought that - savings now accumulated at 451.10:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

well time really has passed me by on this one, but Ive been keeping a little tally to myself.
Ive done 2 surveys online- netting me 8.00
I bought the camera & I actually did a deal with a guy in a shop ( of all places!!)
The cheapest I could find the camera was Dixons. It was priced at 227.99
The cheapest bag for it I can find on dixons is 29.99 and the CF card is 59.99
Plus 4.95 for delivery = 322.92. However, i WOULD HAVE got a whopping 1.61 cash back from dixons via quidco - taking the total price for the camera, bag & CF card to 321.30.
I did some pretty intense haggling with the guy in the shop, and he gave me the lot for 270.00 :T :T = saving 51.30 :j Probably wanted to get rid of me:rotfl:
Ive been taking a bottle of water to work every day, ( yes, its the same plastic bottle) total saving on bottled water alone is 14.70
Another consumer pulse voucher came through the door the other day, they are being put away for Xmas savings, 10.00 achieved :T
free computer cleaning kit came -anyone who got this will know that at most this kit is worth 30p, the cost of the biro that came with it
Another tesco quit kit found on my travels - useable vouchers in there amounts to 1.65
Lots of reduced bread in the freezer from my sainsburys run - cost 70p- label price was 2.34 - saving 1.64
stale loaf turned into breadcrumbs- Id say its equivalent to 4x a packet of shop bought breadcrumbs so Ive saved 2.50 there!
Shopped around for dogs frontline - and saved a whopping 9.00 off the vets price!!
OH and I have since shopped around for a new vetand the one we now have charges a tenner less per consultation than the other one - and its only 5 mins down the road! :j - saving 10.00
reduced cheese, was 68p per pack, i got it for 25p per pack 86p
Absolutely no idea how to quantify my investments, moved 14k from a cahoot savings account into respective S&S Isas, the rest will go into ICESAVE. Not counting this!
So then, my running total for the month so far is 561.05:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Where I am working they charge 30p for a coffee.
And it's not like I have to even get it as 3-4 times a day somebody's going round with a tray saying "anybody want something from downstairs..." and invariably most do.
And I have about three each day. So that is 3x30p x5days = £7.50 a week! Outrageous waste.
Well.... this is horrifying me.
To put things in perspective, I've sold a house and got the whole lot shoved into high interest bank accounts etc. I will be buying my next house for cash.
AND, I have an online publishing business that ticks along on its own, bringing me in the same as the interest.
AND, I am temping for now (must look for a PROPER job soon) - this also brings me in the same amount.
AND, I am renting a studio flat (0 bedrooms).
So, I'm just "tight". OK??!!
I'm off to buy a food flask from Asda later. Then I can take in my own instant coffee and my own boiled water. As it's a food flask, I plan to use this at a future point (when I work where there's free coffee) to take in home-made soups for lunch.
So my £3-4 flask will pay for itself in week one. And when I get onto making my own soups, I figure I'll be cutting my lunch bill down to about 20p/day!
At the moment, if I can "save" £7.50/week on wasteful coffees, then I can treat myself to an indian takeaway whenever I want (whenever I want to me is about 1-2 times a month).
I spend frugally on things that I won't miss (pricey coffee) so I can splash out on nicer things that are treats (indian takeaway)0 -
Such a good point there PAstures New.
As I read on here the UK is one of the most expensive places to live in the world. And food prices are going up too, worldwide.
I dont know whether to invest in food based share options, IM looking into it. At least I *could* see myself getting some of my own money back! I dont know tho, Im quite unclear on shares, need more reasearch time.
7.50 a week on coffee, you are right its loads. Almost 400 per year.
I very seldom buy hot drinks out - when im office based Ive taken my own food & drink into the office, inc herbal teas etc. What galls me is if I want a peppermint tea while Im out ( one of the few drinks I can have on the cambridge diet which Im doing at the mo) most places charge 1.40. its just a mug of hot water with a tea bag in- sainsburys do 40 p. tea bags for 1.49! so theres no way I ever pay that. The other day I needed a hot drink as I was out in the van all day it ewas freezing etc, so I went to McDs for tea, which is the cheapest uinless I find a legitimate transport caff. I might invest in a flask myself - a good idea! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

My advice.. Work for an airline. No matter what time of day I start work (as cabin crew) I receive breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for free! Also, anything I dont eat at work I get to take home:T0
