Pet Owners Opinions Wanted re Dog

It depends on the dog how incontinence affects them.
One of mine pooed in her bed but then stood and barked to tell us so we could clean it up so she could go back into it. She also could no longer sit ) I think due to lack of feeling) She stood or lay down.
Another didn't know he needed until he started going but he always got out his bed and made for the door leaving a trail behind him.
You can get incontinence products for dogs but you must keep the dog scrupulously clean otherwise they can suffer skin problems. They really are to protect the surroundings , not to leave on the dog once soiled.
For bedding human incontinence pads are bigger and more efficient.
Loss of feeling in the back end due to pressure on the nerves from arthritis spurs will be affecting the whole of the back end , causing his incontinence as well as his weak back legs.
You have my sympathy. I have been in the position of knowing things will not get any better but how bad I am prepared to let them get.0 -
I cant help but think about my much younger dog who was poorly recently and had a few accidents in the house. I knew that this really bothered him, it goes so much against the grain for dogs who have been housetrained. You have loved him for 13 years, personally I think its time to say goodbye but of course its your decision and it will never be easy even if you wait until his back legs go. I really feel for you.0
