not a new user's posts seem *very* familiar, exaggerated and contradictory. I think our old friend may be back ;)
    Live and let live.;)
Those who somehow do not 'pass' the assessment i.e get a result favourable to the claimant will always consider the process to be flawed.

I feel shocked and saddened by the replies. If i were the person you think i am, do you really think i would have chosen this user name? Think about it.

I should have known there are always people who will target people who are vulnerable, be it in real life or online. It's easier to do online, isn't it.

I don't know if I've "passed" the assessment yet, so i'm considering the experience i had to be flawed without an outcome as yet, which is as the title of the thread states - "Have your say on health and disability assessments." In all probability, i shouldn't have had to go for the assessment in the first place, i'm so ill / disabled.

As a consequence, I've put myself in a position of vulnerability in a public place, at a time when i'm struggling to cope with everyday living, let alone the discrimination you can receive from some people, and i'm certainly not going to argue with people i don't know or who don't know me or my health conditions.

Like i said, at times it can be very degrading (and frustrating,) to be ill / disabled.

DOT Representative - If you wish to contact me to discuss this matter further, (bearing in mind, i haven't yet had my decision, this has been the Disability Assessment Experience so far,) I will be quite happy to exchange email addresses or telephone numbers, to discuss this matter further.

the majority of people have to attend an assessment.
those that don't either tend to be those with terminal illnesses or those that provided enough supporting evidence for an assessment to not be deemed necessary.

no one is discriminating against you, just pointing out that you seem to have an unrealistic idea of how the system works.

as i pointed out ... no MP is going to attend anyones assessment, as they would have no time for anything else.

and the original post was for information only, but people always comment.
the chances of them contacting you to ask your opinion is exactly zero

I'm in two minds whether to make this post given some of the replies on this thread, however it isn't very often you hear positive posts about "the system," so this post is for all the "genuine" claimants out there. Not that anyone ever chooses to be ill, and at the end of it all, money can't buy you your health and given the two options, i'd always choose my health in preference to a PIP award and being able to live life as i have previously, (which i will never achieve again.)

I've now received my PIP award. It took 3 weeks for the decision from the assessment and a total of 5 months from start to finish of the claim. I've been awarded enhanced rate for both components (which is a higher award than i was receiving on DLA.) I've been told many times i should have been receiving a higher award. I've also been told i have the maximum length of time the awards are being given. A positive outcome, for which i'm thankful, although, at the same time, I have also mixed feelings. I don't like being in the position where i have to claim off the state or even come to terms with my illnesses, (which i haven't done.) Having said that, I've worked hard, made my contributions, and i now need some support. A bitter pill to swallow?

Whilst, as I've said, money is no compensation or substitute for health, hopefully this award will make the life i have now, easier.

The whole process is extremely stressful but there are positive outcomes which we rarely hear about?
