Pulled Over - No Ticket

Hi everyone,
Last night I was pulled over for alleged speeding on a dual carriageway. The speed limit is 60, the officer I spoke to (there was two of them) alleged I was driving more like 80. Her words were, 'I had to do 80 to keep up with you'. At no point was I given any exact speed I was allegedly travelling at.
The car is a company car, so I was given a producer and told to visit my local police station within 7 days and provide the requested documentation.
I was surprised when I was given this and this only, because I was expecting a NIP or some other kind of document stating that I had been caught speeding. I asked the officer if I was receiving points or a fine and she said 'No'. The producer has a field for 'Reason for Stop', and it says 'Suspected road traffic offence'.
I have since called the respective police station and tried to find out if, after completing the producer, I will receive a fine in the post or anything like that, they didn't seem to know exactly but advised I would normally receive a roadside traffic offence document if this was the case.
Does anyone know what will happen here? I should have sought more clarity with the officers but in all honestly, she was so irate that I wouldn't admit to the speeding, I wanted to leave the scene as soon as possible. I can't help thinking that the only reason I didn't receive a NIP there and then is because it is a company car vehicle, and it has to go through them, and that I'll receive it through the post in due course once I complete the producer.
Thanks for any help.

I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago, albeit at a slower speed. They gave you a producer to check that you are legal to drive and the car is legal as they could not prove you were speeding.i.e. no calibrated equipment on board. Their speedo reading is an indication that you were travelling beyond the speed limit but it is not evidence.0

Did the PC say you were being reported?
(You don't necessarily get a ticket when you are dealt with directly by a policeman and your offence is being reported for possible prosecutionn)
If you don't meet the requirements of the producer, then that will get added on the "charge sheet"0 -

She absolutely did not, I am 100% on this bit. She said something to the effect of 'if you would have said sorry we would've let you go', before filling out the producer. But nothing about being reported. Before I drove off, she said 'make sure you go within 7 days, as you'll be issued a courts summons otherwise, and it's not worth it'.
Very difficult to know what to make of it!0 -
Sounds like she can't prove the speed, but wants to give you a "fright" and hope you learn from it - just get the docs and comply with the producer and hope that's the end of it.
If you get anything through the post then take this to pepipoo which is a better place for "proper" police alleged offences0 -
2 police officers on a road is acceptable for speed enforcement , one officer on a motorway.
probably just a "frightener" , take your docs in and smile at the civilian.
although why they could not check licence/MOT and insurance at the side of the road is a mystery
unless its the company car insurance thingSave a Rachael

A 'NIP' can also be given verbally at the time. By the sound of it you have been stopped so they can ' have a word' re' your driving. The HO/RT1 has been given to check that you have the correct doc's for driving the vehicle.
Most Police forces would issue an endorsable FPN (which also contains document production details) for speeding rather than report for summons, as its a lot quicker to deal with and also a lot cheaper ! Reasons for not issuing a FPN would be say driving over 100 mph were an outright ban could be imposed by the court, or you already have sufficient points on your licence for a speeding offence to take you over the 12 points required.
As long as your docs are 'produced' within 7 clear days and they are in order, then I suggest that it will be the end of the matter.0 -
It does indeed sound like you've been given a "shot across the bows" so make sure you produce the documents. Most Police forces would issue an endorsable FPN (which also contains document production details) for speeding rather than report for summons, as its a lot quicker to deal with and also a lot cheaper !Reasons for not issuing a FPN would be say driving over 100 mph were an outright ban could be imposed by the court, or you already have sufficient points on your licence for a speeding offence to take you over the 12 points required.
Keep in mind that, subject to a number of aggravating factors, at 86mph in a 60mph limit a driver on conviction is immediately liable to a fine equivalent to 100% of their "relevant weekly income" (salary/wage minus tax and NI), 4-6 points or a 7-28 day ban. All of which is considerably more severe than the effect of a EFPN.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
