For each supplier's tariff : annual standing charge (or 365X daily rate) + your last year's usage X unit cost.

Many suppliers have a section, which will do the calculation for you, on their website.

Plus possible discounts for method of payment and dual fuel.

Only possibly, as some providers have special tariffs with duel fuel as a condition. (Mine is one of those).

That is why I stated 'Plus possible discounts for method of payment and dual fuel.'

I don't think many stipulate 'dual fuel as a condition'. What some do stipulate is that you cannot have just gas, and not electricity.

However what I said stands, in working out costs you have to take into account possible discounts for dual fuel and payment method.
  • Look everybody, I've been swapping for years, so I don't need any maths lessons. The only thing missing from the comparisons, apart from the suggested health warning, is the schedule of rates, which I can feed into a spreadsheet in two minutes. I had to dig hard to find that detail is all I'm saying. I think this thread's now past its sell by date.

You've been swapping for years, yet don't know that you can find providers' tariffs on their websites, without having to sign up.
  • I just thought I'd chip in to say I completely understand TS concerns. I too found this a little irritating, though I admit this wasn't helped by a little difficulty getting information out of Scottish Powers website (it showed the new rates ok, but didn't make it clear if they inlcuded or excluded VAT and only clarified when I listed my full calcuations).

I think, though I am loathe to admit it, they are between a rock and a hard place whatever they do. If they showed figures against the tariff which is going to end soon then this is also a little misleading as most people will be looking at this with two months or less to go.

I can't think of an easy way for them to display both sets of numbers though. I do think the switching process/sites like people to switch on a dual fuel basis. Whilst you can look at individual deals for gas and electricity there isn't an option to display the best combination automatically.

With EnergyHelpline one click gives the selected tariff in a pop up box - what is complicated about that. Everything on one page. To compare 2 or more tariffs have multiple pop up boxes on the screen. Simples.
