Skirts riding up when wearing tights

You need a waist slip, just covers the bottom half of you and totally stops your problem! I had no idea some people haven't heard of them!
Skirts and dresses are much more comfortable to wear with them. Lined skirts are usually not washable0 -
I see lots of younger ladies having this problem - it must be a generation thing as when I was younger we would never dream of wearing a dress or skirt without a "petticoat" underneath.
A waist "slip" will solve your problem - but make sure you buy one of the appropriate length for your skirts.0 -
.. and if people say to you "charlie's dead" it means your petticoat's showing under your skirt
I think the problem's actually more to do with the material of the skirt/tights. Synthetics and nylon tend to attract, and ride up. I don't get this problem with cotton skirts.left the forum due to trolling/other nonsense

I inherited some of the slips/petticoats from my gran, I wear them with any unlined skirts or dresses, always with tights. Definitely worth a go.0

Never heard of a slip before! I've heard of petticoats obviously, I even own one to go with my 2 '50s' style dresses.
I sometimes get the 'ride up' thing with skirts, but that's because I think my waist is just a bit too big compared to my hips!0 -
I don't get that but find that my skirts start rotating as I walk, sometimes by the time I arrive at work it's done a 360 rotation. So irritating. That's why I prefer trousers suits. Plus tights are a pain :-)0

Your skirts may be riding up due to 'static cling'.
I know of three tips to fix this, while you are wearing your tights/skirt combo. I haven't ever tried the third one, but the other two have worked for me. I usually go for 'Tip1'.
Tip 1 - apply a reasonable amount of hand cream/body lotion to your hands, rub in a little, then rub your hands over your tights. Sounds a little rude, but it gets rid of the static!
Tip 2 - rub a tumble drier sheet over your tights. If you still get tumble drier sheets.
Tip 3 - 'spritz' a little hairspray over your tights.0 -
A small slip is ideal but you can also open the hems a bit on each side of the skirt, pop a coin (pound is ideal or you can use anything small and heavy that won't rust) see with a blind stitch around the coin and over the opened hem to close it back up. You can also raid the "skirt stash" in dire situations! The tumble dryer sheet trick is fab as well.January 2016 £5350 in debt:eek:
