Nationwide flex basic

I have basic accounts with co-op and lloyds. Can I open a flex basic and keep other two accounts? I'm a little confused at their eligibility criteria.

Don't have the greatest credit history- few defaults that are statue barred and due to disappear next year and a ccj.:o

You should be able to open flex basic

If not it will be to do with your credit history not other accounts you have.

Yes you can keep the other 2 accounts

The eligibility criteria for FlexBasic are:

    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/products/current-accounts/flexbasic/apply#tab:Howtoapply

You must be 18 years old or over and living in the UK.
You don't qualify for one of our other current accounts.
You don't have a UK bank account elsewhere, or
    - you have a UK bank account elsewhere and you want to switch it to us, or
    - you have a UK bank account with us or another UK-based provider but need a FlexBasic account because you're in financial difficulty.

I've highlighted one clause in bold. This means that you can apply for a FlexBasic account, but they will do a credit check on you and if they decide that you are credit worthy enough for one of their other accounts they will offer you that instead, on a take-it or leave-it basis.

    Further info:

What do we mean by 'financial difficulty'?

We mean that you may, for example:

Struggle to pay essential bills such as mortgage, rent or utilities or have to borrow money to meet these payments.
Struggle to meet the minimum payment on credit cards or loans each month, or have regularly missed payments when due.
Have County Court Judgements for defaulting on payments.
Be in discussions about debt management or have a debt management agreement in place with lenders.
    Have poor credit history.

I think the Nationwide eligibility criteria are very clear: http://www.nationwide.co.uk/products/current-accounts/flexbasic/apply#tab:Howtoapply

They may or may not accept you for a FlexBasic. Best way to find out is to apply. Worst case they turn you down, best case they'll offer you a FlexBasic or one of their other accounts.

And FlexBasic is the only basic current account to offer a contactless debit card
