Springsteen O2

On sale to the public at 0900 this morning. No tickets online. Ticketmaster engaged for twenty minutes, then sold out. Ebay etc, tons of tickets at multiples of five time face value or more. Happens all the time I know. I wonder if Springsteen, for decades an upholder of blue collar values, realises this goes on? Anyone got his phone number? (Only joking.)

  • This was truly ridiculuous, I was refreshing the Ticketmaster Bruce page from 8.59am, got the sales page at 9.00am exactly and 5 seconds later after I passed the bot-check there were no more tickets left.

Anyone actually managed to get some today?

Hard luck Bayesian. As it is the last date in his tour schedule, perhaps another day or so may be added. I presume that like me you are not going to be paying the big money, now required to secure tickets?
If Springsteen actually knows this goes on, I would go right off him, despite all the years.
  • I'm ashamed to say that I actually bought 2 standing at £140 each from eBay just now. Given that the second cheapest were £150 each for the nosebleeders (as the upper tier in O2 is *ahem* affectionately called) I think that they will still be sellable at that price just before the gig, even if he announces another date.

    However, since I'm moaning:

    1. O2 is an attrocious venue sound-wise. Saw the Stones there last week from front of Upper Tier and the echo was unbelievable.

    2. A single concert!!!! He regularly sells out 3-4 Earl's Courts when he is touring with the band.

    3. The whole O2-users only promotion is unfair, especially without prior announcement. All the professional touts have an O2 mobile and buy the entire pre-sale allocation.

    4. 6 tickets per head??!??! 4 would be stretching it but 6 is just encouraging these situations.

Anyway, I would not pay this price for any artist other than Bruce, and if it was not for the fact that my wife, who is also a fan, has never seen him, I would seriously reconsider...

Best of luck to anyone who did not manage to grab the ticket yet.

Look on the bright side, hes back next year doing open air venues.
  • Oh? Has this been officially confirmed?

I've been twice - row A upper tier blk 410 both times. Sound quality for Snow Patrol was superb, the quality for the Stones (last Thursday) was appalling. Agree that there was an echo, but this was as a result (I think) from a delay between the stage and upper speakers rather than the acoustics of the arena since I'd had a previously good experience. I complained to the staff at the customer services desk during the concert and they mentioned others had also done so. The sound was much better in the second half (from the solo onwards). I'll be complaining to AEG, as the first half was so dire.
When were you there and where were you?

As for Bruce, I've a gut feeling that there will be another gig on the 20th.
  • OK, I may then give O2 the benefit of a doubt. I was there on Thursday as well in Row L of 403. The echo from the back was really bad on the high range - most of Mick's vocals, guitar solos and more distorted riffs - which I initially attributed to the steel construction on the top. I guess it could have been caused by the badly configured speakers.

However, a friend of mine had a similar complaint following a Prince gig two weeks ago, so it may be that their sound system setup (with that gigantic chandelier cluster in the middle) is proving somewhat difficult.
  • Well, it could still be the acoustics to a certain degree, particularly higher up the upper tier. When I complained last week, they offered to move me to the front of the lower tier as the 'sound would be better' but this was no good as I was already in row A! I'm probably going to stick to lower tier from now on, not that I can get anything for the Boss...
  • As I was trying to get some this morning an option to buy O2 clipper service for the 20th came up and then went after a few refreshes.

Could be a good sign of an extra date.

Stones did the same for their gigs

Sorry to hear you missed the tickets, it really sucks, but I dont think Mr Springsteen can be to blame for it. The problem is, people will buy these tickets by the bucket load, and not even like Bruce Springsteen. They know full well they can sell them at a huge profit.....and they do, because Springsteen fans are prepared to pay the price to ensure a seat.

I think ticket companies know full well whats going on when a customer makes an order of 10+ tickets for a gig. But to them its a done deal, theyre not losing out on it whichever way it looks.

I think there should be a rule that limits the amount a person can buy. lets say a maximum of 4 tickets per customer. It wont cure the problem, but will certainly hinder the touts.
