I have be trying to claim some mis-sold PPI from Protectacoat that I bought in 2001. I wrioe to the address that was provided when I brought the Protectacoat and had a reply from GE Finance who said that it did not belong to them. I googled the company and found a Protectacoat Firthglow in Peterborough, It has been returned back to me from Royal Mail, saying that they are no longer there. Does anyone know of this company , so that I can try and claim or am I trying to flog a dead horse.
Thank you for any help or suggestions.

From what I can see, it was not PPI but a guarantee for the services done by this company. There is no current and has been no company of that name regulated by the FCA (register started in 2001)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

Found a Firthglow Limited t/a protectacoat, assumingly who you are after.
In liquidation.

Due to date of sale pre 2005, a slim chance the insurance underwriter may assist, otherwise your only chance is becoming an creditor on the liquidation, which probably won't get you much if anything.0 -
It's not PPI, it was an insurance against the failure of the decorative covering the company provided and also against defective workmanship.
They were offering a twenty year guarantee, but this was linked to payment via finance
Little more than an extended warranty...0 -
I have contacted GE Money regarding a PPI claim which appears on our credit agreement with First National Bank (now GE Money)
The company Protectacoat filled out the Credit Agreement - they added PPI, we were unaware of this until I discovered it recently.
GE Money insist that it's not their sale but a brokers sale. In this case they say that Protectacoat were the broker, they no longer exist.
The credit agreement says that it was signed on behalf of first National Bank. GE Money say they will not uphold our claim.
My previous PPI claims were similar ie: on for furnutre from DFS who signed a credit agreement on behalf of Black Horse. I gave Black Horse all the details, they refunded my money.
Why won't GE Money do the refund when I have the evidence? Any help would be apreciated0 -
GE Money won't "do" the refund because they don't accept liability for it.
I assume this was taken out prior to 2005?
If later than this date, then FSCS should be your next port of call, but otherwise you have no access to the Ombudsman and are wasting your time.0
