South France vs Italy

Hi,
We are hoping to go abroad late August this year and are considering either South of France, Italy (probably northern, maybe central) or northern Spain.
What is the weather likely to be like and are there any major differences in these areas?
We have been to the Toulouse area before and it rained a few days but was generally warm and fine. We have also been to Italy and that was completely dry for the whole fortnight, but 1 visit isn't enough to get a reliable gauge.
Never been to northern Spain, is that similar to south of France?
We are having to go right at the end of August and into the first week of Septemner so concerned it might get a little chilly.
Thanks for any advice.

Northern Spain is green and rainy. South of France and Northern Italy would have better weather.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

We went to Northern Spain last August - it's very scenic. We did however have a couple of days of rain, but we also had nice hot days. Hence why it's called the Costa Verde - the Green Coast.0

Thanks, interesting.
Of course a couple of days of rain isn't a problem to me personally, I don't expect perfect weather but keeping the kids amused when it rains can be a little challenging!Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -
The food is much better in ItalyChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0

I stayed in a camp site in menton near monte carlo it was great...a lot of crime in Italy beware...
I would go on the med coast near

It rained a lot when I was in San Sebasti!n in June.
But San Sebastian isn't in NE Spain, it's geographically much more like NW Spain (Galicia etc.), is on the Atlantic rather than the Med, and is separated from the Med coast areas (Catalunya) by the Pyrenees. The weather in Spanish Catalunya is very similar to that in French Catalonia, and not that different from the weather on the Cote d'Azur.0 -

Italy in late Aug/Sept should be perfectly OK weatherwise. If you are looking at beaches they may well be quite packed as August is the main holiday month. As Manuel says in Fawlty Towers: " I Know Nothing"0
