Barclaycard and Egg

Hi all, i have recently made a ppi claim to barclaycard and Egg (which barclays took on) as i found an old letter where i wrote to them to cancel the policy on the barclaycard as i did not need it.
I noticed i had it on my egg card to which i was unaware of, i had this card since 2002 and applied for it online.
In 2009 i went into a DMP as i was in financial difficulty.
Barclays has replied and rejected my claims saying they feel they were sold to me properly and all was explained to me at the time, which i can not remember.
Do i just leave it at that ? , or peruse it further ?
Thanks

You can choose to refer it to the FOS within 6 months if you feel they were wrong to reject it.
Claiming to be unaware of the PPI won't fly as it would have been on every single statement where you had a balance rather than paying off in full so that is just saying you didn't read your statements rather than being unaware of it.
Egg did have pre-ticked boxes during some time periods, that sort of opt-out PPI will win at the FOS but if they know that period was not pre-ticked that won't work.
If you applied online and it was not a pre-ticked box then unless it was added later on the phone then you were not miss-sold as you weren't sold anything, you applied yourself, therefore miss-bought
Also do note if the DMP meant any money was written off then they can use a PPI refund against that debt in some casesSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
