So I thought I really hve to post to say that signing up to these emails has been so beneficial! From the top of my head here's a few things I've followed through on:
Got the Halifax clarity card so I could use it abroad without any additional charges - I now keep it open and use it for online purchases for protection and to keep it active to help my credit score.
I called sky - this was a big one! I now have a schedule of when I need to call them to negotiate when my discounts run out but I was paying around £90 and its down to £50 with discounts on movies as well as cutting paying for things I didn't even know we were paying for like kids tv!
I also negotiated when we had broadband issues and pointed out that new customers get fibre for £10 so we got the same price for the full term instead of £20 with a free hub and free activation which was supposed to be around £60.
I shopped around for our gas and electric and after researching went with first direct who I really like and have a great app to submit readings with. Not sure how much this saved but they were second to best in comparison sites and I had heard of them so I went with that.
I have just got in touch with the council about my tax band as its a lot higher than my previous property but on the same band B.
I have applied to go to water meter as there is 2 of us in a 4 bed house and we could be saving around £500 on our water bills.
This weekend I'm going to get a Santander account after seeing that it could benefit me with my savings etc from the to show the other week.
I saved up and bought my phone outright and got a £16 per month phone contract.
As additional points I quit the gym and signed myself up for a 5k and got a copy of Insanty and I had never been so for in my life for free!! (This was before Xmas mind!)
I also took £100 that I had saved across of of these and put it in my pension as well as bumping my savings up £25 to £75.
I have never felt so financially on the ball and it's all thanks to these emails making me question what I'm paying for as well as Ramit Sethis I can make you rich book which I listened to as my free book on audible and then cancelled the account.

I, too, would like to thank (imho) St. Martin of MSE (no offence to any religion intended) and his team for teaching me I do have some control over what I am charged for certain things, especially gas, electricity and insurance. I now "ride" energy tariffs, do comparisons at least once a week and watch my online account with npower like a hawk. I never just pay the renewal premium, always do comparisons via MSE and have a price for my current supplier to beat before I call them. Just yesterday managed to get £16 knocked off RAC policy just by doing exactly as advised on here - take five minutes and use a bit of charm.
Thanks, Mr. Lewis and all your wonderful team. You probably deserve a knighthood.:T0
