But how is the initial transfer from a UK euro account to the FX broker made, without incurring charges?

OK, name one UK bank that offers free outgoing € transfers. I don't know any.

A recent thread: SEPA Payments from LLOYDS or other UK Bank

Azzap (the OP) is paid in Euros on the continent - nowhere has he said it is in cash, that would be highly unusual for an employer to do.
For "Working freelance (golf caddy) on a casual basis" on the continent, payment in cash is quite likely.

...And not free from charges, even if an FX broker will accept a euro payment from UK.

Anyway a UK euro account is of virtually no relevance to the OP. If he can open an account where he will be working to pay into, that is the best starting point. But we don't know which country or what his residential status will be.

Thanks for this. I will be paid in €'s regularly to my nominated bank acc, from what I have read above it would be best to open a € domicile bank acc and then send this over to my £'s account using an FX broker / service?

Do Santander offer a Euro's account? (Who I currently bank with)

The best is to have a € account in EU or have the money sent to a broker directly. Otherwise it will cost you to send € from it.

    ETA: euros account

Would the sender (my player) be happy possibly sending it directly to the FX broker (service), if so that would be ideal. If not, I assume I would have to open an € account in the EU in the EU?

    Thanks, very helpful thus far

you can open a Euro account at a German Post Office,
Are you referring to an account with Deutsche Postbank, or application for a Comdirect Bank account processed at a post office?

sorry don't know - read it on another thread.

ETA- - the latter, as I see you've also found it and quoted it on the other thread!
