What age is child for hotel room if his birthday is the day of departure?

As title says really, we're thinking of booking the Paradise Beach Hotel in Portinatx and my son will turn 12 the day we check out. Inputting his age as 12 instead of 11 bumps the price up by over £300. The airline specify it should be his age on the date of departure but what about the hotel?

I would assume its day of deperature as well, if you looked at it as if he was 17 going on 18, he wouldnt be allowed to have alcohol at start + during holiday - so logic hes 11.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

It's usually his age on the date of departure so he will be classed as 12 for the full duration of the holiday. If you're travelling to Ibiza you normally need to hand in everyones passport on arrival so that they can check you in properly so they may or may not realise and ask you to pay any additional charges on check out.
I would look at travelling / returning a day earlier if I were you to save some money!Lea0 -
If he wasn't 12 until 23.59, he would still be 11 when he departed from the hotel.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. It's usually the day of departure from the UK - ie the day you GO on holiday, not the day you come back, so he would be 110

We stay at San Miguel Hotel (also known as Cartago Hotel) in Puerto San Miguel Ibiza. It belongs to the same group as Paradise Beach i.e. Stella Polaris Hotels. We always book direct with the hotel and by doing this pay child prices until the child is 15. It may be worth pricing hotel direct.0

We're pricing it separately ourselves so I can get good flight prices with Jet2 but returning earlier is much more expensive on the flights so that's not really an option. I know Jet2 take his age on the day we return so for Jet2 he's 12.
He wasn't born until 8.27pm so technically he's not 12 until after we check out but don't think the passport shows time of birth or that the hotel would accept this as an explanation anyway.
Just had a look at the hotel website to price it with them but we are 2 adults and 4 children (ages 11/12?, 10, 9 and 6) but the webite will only allow 4 children if one of them is an infant. Now I'm even more confused, if the hotel don't seem to have an option for us to stay how can other sites (alpharooms, travel republic, sunshine, etc) be able to sell us the holiday.0 -

I've just quickly googled the hotel it gave me several operators. Looks like Thomas cooks allocation sleep up to a max of 5 adults so that's no good. Then I looked at Jet2 holidays as a package have you tried pricing that up because its only £60pp deposit and you all get luggage and transfers included in the price, whereas you are going to have to pay upfront for the flights only. With Jet2 the apartment or sea view apartment sleeps up to 6. Although it could depend what board basis you want the apartments may only be for self catering and if you were wanting all inclusive or half board that could be a reason you can't get the allocation.0 -
Bit odd but the Stellar Polaris website shows different prices and ages than the going directly to the hotel (Cartago) for quotes. We save a lot of money booking direct. Also they have family rooms which can be booked direct with hotel (sleep up to 6) but again not shown on Stella Polaris site. If it's this site you are looking at it may be worth trying to find an email address for Paradise Beach and contacting hotel directly.
I can thoroughly reccomend Cartago hotel and hope Paradise Beach will be as nice and as much fun.0
