    Eat, clean, healthy, fresh and with portion control and you will lose weight. Combined with exercise it will fall off you.

    Did it years ago and I really really would not recommend it to anyone. Not only is it expensive, it's not very healthy and pretty much guaranteed to put all the weight lost back on plus even more.....

    Want something that might work for you? Look at the Sirtfood Diet- just read fascinating article in GH mag about it. Lose 7lbs in first 7 days eating real (but very specific super) foods. Looks like they might have found why a med diet is so good.

  • Flick, I lost 8st in 9 months on the Cambridge diet, god knows how I stuck it that long but I have to say I did feel fantastic, I had bags of energy.

    Unfortunately, 'domestic unrest' made me give up on it, and I put the weight back on and more - took me about 3 years mind to gain it back.

    Am halfway through losing it again on WW this time.

    The best thing I remember about the Cambridge diet was that it made a bowl of salad seem really appealing and tasty!

    I did it and lost 4.5stone.. I found it easy to stick to having just shakes/bars until the end where you start reintroducing food, then my old habits crept on. I regained the weight over the next year (thankfully without the extra bit that a lot of people seem to do!). I also suffered from depression and lost a lot of hair, and it's not clear whether the diet caused the hairloss and then that caused the depression, or whether depression caused the hairloss, but cambridge does have that as a side effect and it was really damaging to me.
    So no, I wouldn't recommend if it's long term. If you just need to lose a stone or two and you want to do it v quickly for an event, then maybe.
    I'm with SW now, 3st 9 down and doing ok. Enjoying it a lot more and learning about life-long changes.

    I did it and lost 1 stone for my wedding. Less than 4 years after I got married I ended up with 3.5 stone to lose. It's like any other diet - if you can stick to it and realise that you have to make a lifestyle change in order to maintain your healthy weight then its good. However, being on such a low calorie diet turned me into a binge eater and I really lost control after I was allowed to eat normal food again. I've now lost 8lbs since the start of the year by eating healthy, unprocessed food and limiting my calories to a more reasonable intake.

    I tried my own thing, by having protein drink for breakfast one for lunch then and low cal dinner... evening vodka with diet soda ..lost out a stone in 2 months.. then just have one for lunch ...then it all went down hill and put it back on in about 3 month.

    oh well.. life goes on..

  • I have lost 10lbs and dropped a dress size (12 to a 10) in five months, partly due to buying a dog but also due to recording all meals etc.in the MyfitnessPal app. I was shocked at the amount of calories I was consuming in snacks alone! I find diets hard to stick to and have therefore decided to eat normal foods in smaller portions. I also weigh myself everyday which helps me assess how much I need to cut back on.
  • I've done it in the past. Lost 3st in 3 months. It is very expensive though, about £45 per week IIRC.

    I have friends that have done exantediet.com and it's exactly the same but for about £20 a week. exante has more variety in flavours apparently too.

    I also know some people who have used exante to do the 5:2 diet, just because it's a very simple way of getting the 600 calories on the two LCD days. I'm thinking of doing that myself too.

    VLCD's DO work. Living on 600 calories a day is always going to work (if you stick to them) because the body needs more than that just to breathe and blink! The problem is a. sticking to it and b. learning lessons from the past and not just reverting back to bad habits once the weight is lost. Easier said than done.
