Amazon Prime mistery

Hello, I have just checked my main bank account and noticed I have been charged £79 for amazone prime membership on 1st of July, 2015. I don't remember such thing, so I started digging to see what happened, especially since I do not use my main bank account when shopping online, instead I always use my credit card. None of my amazon accounts have prime active or have any history of prime memberships, also none of the amazon account have this debit card on file, only my credit cards. I also checked my emails and I haven't received any notifications from Amazon about this and I haven't made any orders on or around 1st of July. I have heard many stories of this happening after people did the trial, but never when the payment has been taken out of the blue without any emails and from a card that is has never been used with amazon. I must say I have used this bank account years ago to pay amazon, but never this particular debit card as it's quite new.

Fairly obvious, but have you asked Amazon? You do say "Amazon accounts", which implies that you have more than one, so are you sure that there isn't another. Call Amazon and speak to them.

Happens all the time - just contact Amazon and ask for a refund, their live chat can usually deal with stuff like this.

Inevitably you've entered the details at some stage (I'm sure Amazon don't just pluck details out of thin air) and agreed to the trial when going through the checkout, it happens often and I've even done it myself.

As already said, this happens often.

So often that MSE has written this article:
  • Happens all the time, especially when people don't read what they're clicking and then protest loudly that they hadn't signed up to anything when the most definitely did.

Perhaps, but they addressed this in the OP.

They checked their account, none of them have Prime active, nor a history of having Prime and the debit card that was billed for Prime isn't attached to any of the accounts.
