So my MIL has been in a care home for a couple of months and it looks like it will be permanent. All her benefits and government pension are paid into her PO account and someone has to go every week to draw the money to pay the home etc.
We would like the money to go straight into her bank but I cannot find any forms or how to do this.
Help please.

The post office have a form for closing the account but the department will need to be informed to change the payments over. If your MIL is still able to handle her affairs then it can be done over the phone, with her answering the security questions, she can give permission to hand the call over to somebody else, or a form called a DP GEN can be sent out, but this take longer and it would be advisable to keep the Post Office account open until the payments start going into her account. If she is not able to handle her affairs and nobody is POA or an appointee then it can be done but takes longer.0
