We are going to sell our property and build a new one. We will have about £150-£170k which we need to put somewhere with easy access for about 6months. We thought £50k each in Premium bonds but don't know where to put the balance. Any ideas welcome.

To expand on that, a couple can get about £130k in these accounts, earning 3%-5% AER, or you could put it in an NS&I account for safety, likely to pay more than Premium Bonds.

Thank you both will have to think about it . We already have Santander 123 with 20K in it and TSB with 2K so NS&I loks best bet as juggling DD's and Moving money each month doesn't appeal. Thanks again for your suggestionsIt's not the growing old I mind but the growing stupid withit0
