Wooden Flooring

I've fallen in love with this flooring but it will cost £2,000 to just buy enough to cover or living room, without even thinking about fitting it! (38.50 + VAT)

I like the texture of it, think it will be ideal for us but.....am I missing a trick? What else it comparable with this? I'm not really up on hard flooring...

Don't you have floor boards you could sand and varnish or are you on a concrete floor?0
-
Had someone out to look at the floor boards, they're not suitable, thought it would help a bit with insulation as well.0

That's a shame, sanding floor boards always gives a good effect and there is something satisfying about seeing and old floor come back to life.
£2,000 seems like a of money to spend on flooring, although I must admit it does look nice on the pics. I'm sure you could find something similar for less! There is always a bargain to be had.0 -
Looking at that url I'm not surprised. Some flooring is simply not intended for Average Joe.

That's one whole raft of posh/lifestyle, aspirational b0ll0x right there.
Find something that's not been hand reared by virgins in the Amazon rain forest by a diminishing tribe of experts with knowledge handed down from ancient times .... just get a bog standard quality bit of floor.0 -
We've done the cheap laminate floor route before, wanted something a bit more special this time. It is a big room though.0

never heard of v4woodflooring - i just went with a fairly standard kahrs engineered floor in oak - i guess engineered has some advantages compared with solid wood - i seem to remember using http://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk0

If it's the rustic look you want, then maybe consider sourcing an unfinished product.
I sourced some great French Oak from Ebay a few years ago for a client and it was a fraction of the cost. You do have to factor in the finishing costs though.0 -

We have engineered wood floor in our living room, we did look at some V4 stuff, saw it in a few shops, but went with an online company in the end. http://www.luxuryflooringandfurnishings.co.uk/
We found a local fitter who did it for £20sqm, but yes, shops were quoting us a lot more.
Don't get me wrong, it was still expensive, we paid around 2k in total, but this did include the underlay and fitting for a space that was about 30sqm, but it is really beautiful floor & we love it. I would recommend looking at online companies though!0 -
Thanks for those suggestions, will have a good nose!0
