handling phone call from halifax claims handler

Has anyone got any experience or advice on taking a phone call from a Halifax claims handler when you claim for miss selling of a reward account? I'm worried about the call as I'm sure they'll have a load of things in front of them to try and get out of the mis selling. Can you request that they only contact you by email?

  • First reaction to your post is. CAUTION. Do not give out personal account details to anyone over the phone, scammers know a surprising amount about you before they phone, Arrange to call back, but call back to Halifax phone number on the bank website to check if call was a valid one. I urge Caution.

Just be honest. What are your reasons for complaint?

    I'm sure they won't.

Tell them the truth and don't make stuff up.

This is just paranoia. Either answer the questions truthfully and expect a fair result based on your answers. or just refuse to speak to them and rely on their investigation to give the same result.

Can you imagine the questioning going back and forth and each response going into the work queue and taking 2 or so weeks for each email to be allocated. Crazy.

If you have decent reasons for complaint that can be seen to be correct then you have nothing to fear. If you are trying it on and have no real grounds for complaint then you may find it harder. Honesty is best.
