a bsod .. "hardware malfunction"

never had this before .. just happened on a fairly new toshiba laptop with xp.

turned on .. blue screen with white writing ...


hardware malfunction.

call your hardware vendor for support

***the system has halted ****


after a minute just turned machine off .. and back on again and it started as normal .


Anyone advise what's wrong ??

  • Click Start - Run - type eventvwr.msc - OK. Look for errors (red symbol) in Application and System. Double-click the error for more information.
  • hi chippy.
    done that . whilst both application and particularly system do have numbers of the red "error" .. none in last couple of days to make it crash this morning ? . various "sources" shown .. clicked onto some of them an don't really understand the techie detail.

    also number of yellow warnings . mainly "userenv".
