B&Q refusing replacement or refund

Bought a shower pump 30th December 2013 which had a 2 year manufacturer warranty.
This packed up just before Christmas 2015 and i had a plumber come and quote me to replace it but he was unable to carry out the work until the new year due to a holiday.
He has now replaced it so i took it back to B&Q on the 9th only to be told "sorry its out of the 2 year warranty period". I've also contacted head office who have told me the same thing.
Its surely not unreasonable to expect an item such as this to have a longer life span than 24 months.
What are my choices now? Should i pursue this with money claim online?

Under SOGA you have to prove via an independent report your claim that it should have a longer life span and what the fault is .0

You are nowhere near the point of a money claim.
You need a report stating that the shower head was inherent faulty when you bought it (basically it was bound to fail due to a manufacturing flaw etc)
That's your choice with the retailer. Currently legally B&Q don't have to do anything so you currently have no legal recourse0 -
The first thing I would suggest you do is to contact the plumber that you used and see if he will write a letter (preferably on company headed paper), stating the date that he first visited you and that the pump was faulty at this time.
Then send this letter and a note explaining the problem to customer services at the B&Q head office or directly to the manufacturer and they might accept this for a warranty claim.
If this doesn't work, you then need to get an independent report stating exactly why the pump has failed. This needs to be because of a manufacturing defect before B&Q are responsible for doing anything.( If for example it failed because of calcium build up due to hard water then they won't be liable).
If you can get this report, contact B&Q again and tell them that are pursuing a claim using your sale of goods act rights which state that goods must last for a reasonable time.
If they accept this, they can either offer to repair, replace or refund (basically it's their choice), and the refund can be a partial one to cover the 2 years use that you have already had from the pump.0 -
My last pump failed due to build up of lime scale . It can be fairly common in some water areas .0
