Monarch not cancelling flights to Egypt

I have a holiday booked to Egypt in February. Monarch appear to be playing brinksmanship with customers as they are currently only cancelling flights up to 14th February.
In the circumstances, regarding FCO advice, is there a minimum notice period that they need to actually cancel the flights or could they hypothetically leave it until the day of the flight before informing people they are not flying?
All other carriers have cancelled into March at the moment.

Where in Egypt are you flying to?
  • Cancellations can happen anytime, but they're unlikely to not give a couple of weeks notice. They're presumably hoping flights will resume after last weeks airport audit findings are known.

What price do you put on your life? I'd get the flights changed to another destination and stuff the cost. It would hardly be a relaxing holiday when you're looking over your shoulder all the time.
  • Why would you need to be looking over your shoulder in Sharm, anymore than anywhere else these days? It's considered a safe destination. It's only the airport that there is deemed to be a problem with, and they're working on that. Plenty of people are still going and enjoying their holidays. It's just personal choice.

We will not be going to Sharm but at the moment we stand to lose the total cost of the flights if we cancel.

Not very money saving really but then they should be cancelling the flights and we will get a full refund. If flights start again in the meantime we will transfer the flights to another holiday but would prefer not to be restricted to Monarch which is why we are waiting.

Cost to transfer at the moment is £140 so again it's worth while.

I also agree with leylandsunaddict but my wife isn't happy at going to Sharm at the moment plus it's going to be deserted due to the airport issues.
