faulty goods refund

I bought a HP laptop from PC world in May 2014. 3 months later it developed a fault with the power. It was sent for repair. Since then it has been for repair 5 times in 14 months. I asked PC world for an exchange or refund as it has spent more time in repair than in use. All for the same problem with the motherboard/power issues. They have refused this and want to keep sending it for repair. I wanted advice on my rights to claim for an exchange or refund for faulty goods

Unfortunately you have no specific right to a refund or exchange.peterblack123 wrote: »I bought a HP laptop from PC world in May 2014. 3 months later it developed a fault with the power. The right you do have is to a remedy, which could be a repair, refund or replacement.
You have no right to force the seller to provide a disproportionate remedy, which effectively means the seller can choose the cheapest remedy.
As long as the seller provides the remedy "within a reasonable time but without causing significant inconvenience to the buyer" then they can continue to repair the thing any number of times.0 -
within a reasonable time but without causing significant inconvenience to the buyer. Does this include the fact that within the time I have had the laptop I have not been able to use it properly. each time it goes for repair it is wiped clean so I have to start from scratch. It then works for a short time then fails again. I thought goods had to be of a certain quality.0

I would say it is significant inconvenience .
Put your claim for a refund in writing .But the refund can be subject to a usage deduction as you have had it since May 2014 .
Possible the RESOLVER service via MSE may be the way to go .0 -
