Flowering almond?
Options
I've been playing around with trying to design a planting plan. One possibility that looks good is a flowering almond. But I'm confused - some say it is a tree, some say it can be used as a large shrub and some even talk of using it as a container plant. Given how much they cost, I can't contemplate making a mistake and hiking it out in several years' time.
Which is it? Or is it a question of pruning/cutting it back to keep it under control? I just want something colourful that will be a large bush - maybe 3-4 foot - as a focus point.

Hi,
Looking in my Madonald Encyclopedia of Plants & Flowers it says:
Flowering almond (prunus triloba)
A decidious shrub or small tree up to 12 - 15 feet (3.5 - 4.5 metres).
It may be a little on the large side.0 -
This little cherry is pretty in flower, plain in summer, has good autumn colour and interesting zig-zag bare branches in winter.

Mine has put up with a bit of pruning to keep it to about 4ft.0
