It is difficult to answer your question without knowing further information.

I do not believe that any areas are asking people who are unfit for work (ie. have a fit note from doctor) to claim Universal Credit. (hope someone else can confirm this)

So it would seem that you are claiming UC without having said that you are unfit for work? Is this right?

When UC is rolled out for everyone then if you are unfit for work then you would be put into a group which would take account of your disabilities after an assessment. I am presuming this didn't happen? Being placed in this group would then give you more money. Claiming PIP in itself does not, I believe, entitle you to more money under UC.

Sorry not to be more specific but UC is new for all of us and there is little information about it for those who have disabilities.

    So, what to do?

Since you have been awarded enhanced care for PIP then it seems that you need support for work and, if I am right, then UC is not the right benefit for you at this time and you may be better off claiming ESA.

The best thing to do is speak to your advisor about this and ask whether you should be making a claim for ESA.

Please let us know the outcome as it may be useful to others.

there is some confusion around premiums being paid with UC, that is why only 'simple' JSA claims have been transferred.

there is transitional protection, but if you never claimed under the old sustem, this wouldn't apply
