Morning all :)
Thanks for the start Ally and great news on the job front :)
Cold, frosty and icy here again this morning (it has been wet the past couple of days). Still, at least the sun is shining!

To do list for today:
Cheapie porridge for breakfast with some stewed plums from the freezer instead of bought fruit (freezer fruit is either gifted, home grown or 'resuced' from the fruit bowl as it is on its last legs :)) OH had an egg from our hens, who have decided that they are laying after all :)

Fed dog and hens

Dog walks x 2 (though OH has offered to do the first one :)) This is because I am not very good with icy pavements and in his words I 'creep along like an old dear' :rotfl: Downside is that he refuses to take the mutt out if he is wearing his jumper (the dog, not OH) - he says it is bad enough taking him out without that, as he already looks as though he came out of a Christmas cracker :rotfl: Luckily the mutt has lots of fluff to keep him warm (and hates having his jumper on anyway). I will do the afternoon walk when it has hopefully thawed out and I can gallop along at my usual speed :DAfternoon walk done :)

Ironing :(Still to do :o

Cleaning Hoovered middle floor and did some dusting :A

HM meals from stores - I shall cook a pot roast pheasant for dinner tonight. It is a big one so there will be enough for a couple of days. Being big means it will also be tough, so I will do it in the SC :)Done, and enough meat / stock left to make a nice soup :)

Sort through fridge and see if there is anything that needs using up No, all ok :)

'Do something' with a couple of manky looking apples in the fruit bowl - maybe a small crumble :)Yes, a crumble for pud :)

Check banks, not done this for a while :oDone one, still got the one with the fiddly log in thingy to do :o

Any surveys, FPL etc Did a few surveys for onepoll :)

Post office at some stage for a postal survey item Done

Finish sorting out GD's toys, as I have her here again tomorrow Oops still not done, lazy today :o

Try again for a NSD, as I failed AGAIN yesterday by buying three quids worth of tat from a charity shop :rotfl:But at least I haven't spent anything :)

One of OH's friends has turned up with some home cured continental dried sausage, which looks fantastic - friend and his wife 'didn't fancy them'. Their loss :D

Particularly boring list today!

Hope you all have a good day :)

I was very annoyed last night - made a big batch of super healthy sweet potato and chickpea stew... and I don't like it! I managed to force myself to eat it for dinner last night but have a feeling it may linger in the freezer as don't know if I can face eating it again! Although OH thought it was nice. May donate it to OH's mum whose a veggie and loves all things healthy - although will probably do her for 4 meals as there's loads left!

Can't you do something with it to jazz it up a bit Twiggy? What don't you like about it? How about adding some of the chicken you mentioned once it is cooked, and some spices -unless it is too spicy? If that is the case, some yogurt or coconut milk might help :)

So cold today! My phone read -3 in London.

Woke up feeling grotty. I have one of those sunshine alarms that casts bright light round the room to help me wake up. Usually I'm up about halfway through the "sunrise" but not today! The alarm portion went off and that was the first time I'd opened my eyes... I must've been in deep sleep. Weird because I went to bed EARLIER last night than normal...

:starmod: [strike]Breakfast and lunch for free at work[/strike] Croissant with brie and pear, freshly squeeze orange juice for breakfast, egg salad and houmous for lunch with some bread and diet dr pepper. Not too bad! And freeeeee
:starmod: [strike]Get home and drive to town[/strike] Too lazy and cold
:starmod: [strike]Pick up IKEA furniture from parcel shop[/strike] parcel shop said we can keep it there til we move
:starmod: Drop off CUK parcel, eBay parcel (returns for refund)
:starmod: Drop off Very parcel x2 (refunds)
:starmod: Drop off Simply Be parcel (refund)
:starmod: Package up handbag for eBay (£229!)
:starmod: [strike]Take down washing (please be dry, stupid cold weather!)[/strike]
:starmod: [strike]Do more washing loads (5 loads to go, how does it get this bad?!)[/strike] two washes done
:starmod: [strike]Wait for freecycler to collect bedside table[/strike] gone!
:starmod: Carry on watching Making a Murderer!

Still waiting on tenterhooks to see if we pass referencing for the new house! Eeek. Hopeful.

Thanks but I'm not sure what it is exactly I don't like about it! I have discovered that I'm not a fan of aubergine though! But it had a bit of a strange twang to it which I'm not sure how to counteract!
Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,935.00
Total paid off - £9,665.89 (61% paid off)

Those kinds of flavours lend themselves well to Thai. Chuck in some thai paste and some lemongrass and it may taste better.
• Well a productive day for me:

Take DD to playgroup for free - done
Clean bathroom and kitchen and mop - done
Have lunch so don't get tempted by buy something later

Take clothes back for DS bought for xmas and exchange as too small
List more items later on eBay
School run
Dinner from stores, another homemade Chinese meal

Hi guys

I hope everyone is doing ok.
Thanks for the kick start Ally – that sounds great that you’ll be back to day shifts.

I found out that my tenant is leaving at the end of her fixed term after saying she’d stay on a rolling basis. Slightly scared and trying not to panic. Think there is still about £8k negative equity in the place so not sure if I can sell. But then part of me says I’d be better to cut my losses and get rid if I can. :(

Here’s me:
Try to keep panic levels to a minimum :(
Leftovers last night – HM pizzas are great for this. ;)
Froze some HM soup before we get bored of it and it goes off in the fridge :naughty:
Got £25 in 5p and 10ps to put into my current a/c at lunch :T
Used up change in the parking machine – felt like free as the 10 * 20ps were languishing in a jar doing nothing useful!
Used freebie toiletries and make up
Reply to biz email on lunch – possibly 2 newbies (@ £8 each a week :T)
Draft other email about next weekend’s course – didn’t do this yesterday :naughty:
Batch cooking tonight – chicken lasagne type thingy... – using wraps rather than pasta sheets ;)
Visit veg man on lunch
Crochet this eve – fingerless gloves and a cowl with leftover yarn :A

ETA - let my Kiva loan roll over. The original $25 I lent has now magically become $75

• Hi guys  thanks for starting the thread ally :A good news about the continuation of work and hope it doesn't jar too much going there for less money x

twiggy 3rd what Dawn & gs said about the food, possible post list of ingredients here or on the old style board and see what inspiration you get. But totally can relate if you cba and want to just chalk it up!

So got £7 in tips last night :j pretty good seeing as we're just a little country pub. Have put that in the overpayment pot. With my holiday pay this week (I get a small amount of holiday money each week instead of being able to take paid leave) we are about £6 short of the target :T

Anyway (little jubilations put a smile on my face :D) things for today:

* was planning to catch a bus with dgd down to Margate but decided it's way too cold so will do that another day. Meaning the cash stays in my purse ;)
* didn't get Maccy D breakfast like I wanted and came home and made bacon sarnies instead mmmmm
* B/L/D from stores - lunch will be soup for me and lo dinner for dgd. Dinner will be pasta, ys pasta sauce (29p :T) and some use-me-quick veg lurking in the fridge with cheese
* couple of loads of washing
* cleaning. Have so much to do  house really needs a spring clean :o
* updated frugal living spreadsheet & entered all receipts/spends
* submit meter readings
* go for a walk this afternoon with dgd. Stop at the PO and get card and post to my niece
* paid off work expenses & petrol spends last week off cc
* checked how much ms money I am getting this week. £84 :D
* generally keep warm and get through the day as am very tired after working late last night
* checked banking

Ok that's all I can think of. Have a great day x

• Afternoon all :)

Still under the weather but have some good news.

Passed the provisional checks for a Barclay balance transfer deal so I'm chuffed at that. Quick question, on the form it states I need to send away two forms of ID/address, as I've literally just took out the mortgage in this house within the past month or so I haven't changed over my Driving License/Passport etc from the old to new house. I have changed bank details etc however I do have a statement of council tax demand that I can provide them with. As that has my new address on it alongside my name would a copy of my Driving License with my old address on it suffice or would I have to get these changed over before I can send away the forms?

Today will be another NSD, have lost track this month tbh, need to keep an eye on them next month.
Got £100 into my account today so boosted the bank account a bit.
Made dinner from stuff in fridge last night as opposed to sufficing to the urge of buying something from supermarket so will do the same again tonight.
Will take the dog a walk tonight as no one else in the house will, I've not done it recently as been unwell but it's not fair on the dog so will man-up and take him lol

Take care all

J
