Travel Insurance

When you take out travel insurance, their is always the proviso -existing conditions are not covered, but just what is an "existing condition" example-i had bad back problems in 1980, 3 months off work but no problems since- so any back problem could be classed as "existing". like most people my age-65 i have obvioulsy been to the doctor may times for problems-Stomach upsets, headaches, bad cough, etc, so virtually anything could be classed as "Existing" how is this judged? how do they know anyway as i thought that patients records are private. Thanks;)

Existing conditions are usually covered if you declare them to the insurers, it may add a bit to you premium, but at least you are covered.
If you don't declare something and you fall ill because of that you may find that the whole policy is then invalid.

I admit that the question of what is an "existing condition" can be a bit awkward, the best advice is:- ask the insurance company. If you pull up a sample policy document from the web:

    See Page 11

    it gives some guidelines.
