Turning up at airport for cheap flights/short break?

I'm thinking about a short European break this Tuesday (tomorrow) or Wednesday for two people.
We're not really bothered where we go as long as it's cheap! Is it possible to just turn up at the airport and get an unsold /cancellation/no show?
I realise there's a risk that nothing will be available!
Has anyone done this. Would be grateful for any details of experience and/or advice.
Thanks in advance

This type of last minute deal no longer exists. If you turn up at the airport any flight will be very expensive.0

Where are you based and what is your budget? City break in the UK?
Do you have any airmiles/ Avios?0 -
Use skyscanner and pick everywhere as the destination for the flights. Book direct with the airline.
Then use hotelscombined and hotelscomparison websites for the hotel.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Unsold packaged holidays are still cheap last minute.
Sadly, Egypt and Israel are only for the brave, and so cheap.
Now, ISIS immune options:

Travel 7th Feb to 19th June 2016!
£370 return to Taiwan!
£425 to Seoul or Tokyo
By the way, don't book the flight without finding a hotel. No hotel is no joke.0 -

I always use skyscanner and the everywhere option. We went to Riga and Tallinn last October and can definitely recommend them, flights were cheap. We're also going to Sofia and Skopje next month and the flights were £13.99 each way. Can't comment on what they're like though! We've been to most of the major cities in Europe so let me know if you have any questions.
I always use booking.com to book hotels and go through topcashback. Let us know what you find!My debt free diary

Shame the models have changed it was always exciting pitching up at the airport not knowing where you would end up, I think the longest I had to wait was 4 hours before something interesting came available.0
