Sellcar.co.uk

Has anyone had any experience of this company? I've looked online but have not managed to find many reviews?

I'm looking at selling my car, but concerned that they're asking for a £90 deposit up front which is refundable on the day? That's setting off alarm bells for me..

So they take £90 and you lose £90.

That's what I'm afraid of - hardly any reviews apart on their website. Was wondering if anyone had any experience of them, but I reckon I'll be steering clear!

Why would you pay anyone when selling something to them. If there is a £90 admin fee fair enough deduct it from the money you pay me.

I will know that im getting £90 less than the selling price. I would never pay them anything upfront.

When you have websites like Ebay which attracts hundreds of viewers why would you use that site?

Well Ebay charge quite a fee which is why I've not used them, but certainly am advertising on the free sites. If I can't sell it privately this week I will need to use a webuyanycar.com type site though

And I've found the reviews I was looking for on a site called cardealerreviews.co.uk

It looks like a lot of people are being burned by them (Presumably for not describing the car accurately enough) and are either in danger of losing their £90 deposit, or accepting a much lower value than originally promised!

That's the standard operating procedure for these car buying places. You tend to only use them when desperate, and they know that.
  • All very good until they come to pick up your car...and then...they mention the 2 new tyres the car requires and that it doesn't have ADAS and all of a sudden they offer £1750 less.

Funny that I mentioned that the car needed new tyres and it didn't have ADAS prior to them turning up!

They also showed scratches under a bright light which you wouldn't usually see in normal daylight.

Every opportunity is taken to drop the provisionally agreed price.

Save yourself £90 and go elsewhere.

I'm really surprised MSE suggest using such a company.

In my opinion I wouldn't waste your £90
