Best value energy saving GU10 light bulbs

What are the best bang for buck energy saving GU10 light bulbs around these days? I currently go through a lot of cheap 50w gu10 bulbs but I am wandering if upgrading to a cheaper led equivalents will actually save me money?

I am looking to save money rather than just energy.

the led ones from home bargains are about 2 quid each and are great
, go for the warm white as the daylight ones tend to be too bright for inside use and have a blueish tinge to them

The screwfix ones, about £20 for 5 are very good. Nice quality light similar to having a 50w lamp.
Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!

Trade point are knocking out 4/5 (depending on colour) 5w 370 lumen Luceco GU10s for £6 a pack. Unbeatable value for a decent bulb, usually £3 each trade

Are you expecting a big difference? You might be disappointed.

A 50W Halogen GU10 needs to on constantly for 20 hours to use 1 unit (1kWh) of electricity, so about 15p at current rates.

A 10W LED needs to be on constantly for 100 hours to use 1 unit of electricity - 15p.

The LED takes 5 times longer to use the same amount electricity, so a saving of 80% over any given period of use.

Think about it, how often are they on long enough to use even a single 15p unit of electricity? Savings, such as they are (depending on number of lights) will be pennies or fractions of pennies per day, not pounds. Certainly not worth the expense of replacing working bulbs with LED, just replace as they fail.

Your big cost items are anything with a heating element (iron, kettle, cooker, oven etc.) that's where you make bigger savings.

Yeah wasn’t expecting a big difference, although I have about 20 of those 50w gu10's in home plus some larger standard bulbs. That is my plan to just gradually replace them as they fail. I tend to buy big multi packs of cheap gu10s from B&M and places like that but they don’t last long I assume the LED's have significantly longer life span?
