China visa application for tour that includes Tibet

I'm going with a uk tour co. to China including Tibet. The co will get my Tibet permit for me in China but I need the visa for China first. I've been to China (excluding Tibet) a few times before and got a visa simply enough. I've just noticed visaforchina.org and the travel visa co now asks for proof of itinerary / flight details to be provided with the application. I know Tibet is a sensitive issue. I therefore wondered if there would be a problem in getting a visa as my tour documents will state I'm going to Tibet ?

Personally, I would not mention Tibet and just give the first hotel. After all, lots of people visit China with flexible plans.

Maybe the idea is to get into China on a standard tourist visa,
and then there is some kind of tourist group permit for Tibet.

I got into St. Petersburg (Russia) with a cruise ship excursion tour, no prior visa needed. A Russian visa the hard way is around £100, and a right pain in the neck to apply.

Well my concern would be that if they don't know the answer to that how good are their credentials for running the tour at all?

they responded that they advise ppl to use http://thetravelvisacompany.co.uk I was just trying to save £40 by doing it myself as i've done before but don't want to risk refusal. Unfortunately as I now have to submit my travel docs with the visa application visaforchina.org are going to see i'm going to Tibet. I don't know how the travel visa co get round it but I just hate paying ppl for submitting something I can submit myself.

Do you need to give full details of the whole tour? Could you not make some kind of hotel booking (one that allows full cancellation)?

They don't care if you are going to Tibet - lots of people do it. Theres even a train all the way from China to Tibet so you have nothing to worry about by declaring your travel plans.
