Cooker oven not turning on. Grill and Hob working.

Options
Hi,

I have a Logik LFTC 50W12.

The Grill and Hobs all work perfectly well, but the Oven part has decided to no longer work.

The nobs on the front all have little lights next to them to confirm on/off, when turning the oven nob to on, nothing happens in the oven itself and the light doesn't come on either.

Im not brilliant when ti comes to electrical's so was hoping somebody here might be able to help.

Iv taken the back panel off and all looks fine apart from one green/yellow wire that appears charred, as does the padding around where it connects to i assume the bigger internals.

I have taken some pictures to of this but this forum doesn't seem to let me add links or pictures? am i missing something or is there another way to show these?

Many Thanks

It's probably the element. You can buy them from about £20 and it's an easy Diy job if you're a bit handy.

Plenty of other sites for cooker parts

Could be the thermo coupling, same thing happened to my cooker. Gas fitter replaced new for £80.

Does your oven have a clock? My oven is a different make but it won't light if the clock isn't set, eg like after a power cut. Then I have to reset the clock before the oven will light.
  • Nope no clock, just old style nobs/dials on the front.

I had another look earlier and the Green/Yellow wire travels from the middle bottom of the internals effectively where the oven part is, up to the top end, so was thinking maybe it could just be the wire from the dial to the oven thats gone, and so turning the dial isnt telling the oven to turn on? would that be how it works?

The Green/Yellow wire is an earth so should not be part of the problem. From the manual it looks like it does not have a fan, so when you turn on the control knob to a temperature does the internal light come on? If it does, it tends to tell me that the knob is functioning correctly and the problem would be the element as suggested in an earlier post.

As the light doesn't come on I would suspect the switch or thermostat.
Im not brilliant when ti comes to electrical's.
Then I'd call in the repair man, but I would say that as an ex-repair man.
