Beware Rated Tradesman

A warning to anyone who has ever thought of trusting this mob - DON'T !!!
We used them to find a new bathroom installer who turned out, despite recommendation to be extremely dodgy. His mobile number is regularly changed so you can't catch up with him to get work rectified. To make matters worse "RATED TRADESMAN" delete without reading any emails you send asking for their help.
This is their website if you wish to ensure you avoid them

I guess that is the problem with these types of sites. They are only there to make money from you. The rated tradesmen site charges the tradesman for each lead I believe and so he passes it on to you!
They don't do any checks, and some of the sites that do checks will charge for doing so. And if you were a dodgy tradesman and you were being checked on a job, you would be damn sure to do it right.
There is only one way to choose tradesmen and that is by recommendations from others.
One of these types of sites is supposed to be working with the trading standards dept in each county, why not just ask trading standards directly who to avoid

The problem is .... rated by whom? For all we know, each tradesmen could rate eachother. Or maybe they're not rated by anyone at all!!!
I didn't like the fact that they don't give you details of "rated" tradesmen. Instead, you have to give them YOUR details and they pass them on to the tradesman. What if there's someone locally I want to avoid?
In East Sussex, Trading Standards has an Approved Trader Scheme.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

I have a low opinion of these sites.
Any site that asks for money for leads, or requires advertising to be paid before permitting someone to lis is dodgy.
Talking about elecricians (which I wasn't) there are a few weblinks below.
One is a gov.uk (government website) and the rest are vetted.
You should use a competent person for the work, links below
