joint debt, the Ex's name was mentioned with my new address

Dear all,

Could you please advise if possible. We split up with my ex 18 months ago and I moved out from marital home where we have joint mortgage for. My ex was not able to make payments and its in arrears now. The house is for sale at the moment. The mortgage company sends letters to my new address but they are fully aware about our situation. Usually they would send separate letters just with my name on it.

Today I received a letter with his name and my name and my address on it. Looked like Mr and Mrs ...... and my address, then security address the house winch is for sale. I phoned up the mortgaged company, they said it was normal as it was a joint debt. but I do not want my ex to be tied to my address in any way.

The question is, will it affect me and my address in any way.

Many thanks in advance.

By you not paying a joint debt your credit will be badly affected anyway no matter where you live. If he fails to pay they have every right to ask you for the money instead.

Your non-payment will not affect others at your address.

Their sending letters for the two of you to your address won't have any impact beyond the current impact of the defaulted mortgage.
