Anyone been here? What did you think? I'm going in April, it seems to have decent reviews on TripAdvisor so I'm looking forward to it.

I used to go about 10 years ago and have booked with The Sun for this April. It used to be really lovely, very quiet, not much to do there, have to travel if you want to actually do anything. I am taking my dog for her first holiday so just looking forward to walking down the beach and the coastal paths. Hopefully it's as nice as I remember it to be. Somebody I know owns a lodge on the site and says it's still a really high standard.0

I spent many happy holidays at Greenacres. I haven't stayed on the site in a number of years, but have walked through the site recently and it still seems nice. It appears big when you first stay there, it's quite sprawling, but it is organised into named sections - flowers, birds, trees etc - so it's easy to navigate.
They've upgraded some of the site in recent years, still no upgrade to the swimming pool I understand, this is the only thing that lets it down IMO.
The beach can be accessed directly from the site - no roads to cross - and it goes on for miles! You can also drive on the beach (there is a charge for that).
I wouldn't use the on-site eateries as they don't get that great reviews, but Porthmadog is a five minute drive away and there's a Tesco, Aldi and Lidl.
There's always a chance you get a crummy caravan - some are newer than others - I always tell people to go back to reception and complain and be moved, don't just stick with it. Moving people to different caravans is common!0 -
Thanks for the replies. We have booked through The Sun too! Having to travel to do things off site won't be a problem as we'll have the car. I like the fact there's a beach very close by (hopefully we will get some good weather in April) and the supermarkets will be very convenient. We will be taking two children with us, a 3 year old and a baby who will be almost 11months old by then so we will probably use the pool and other facilities at some point.
Thanks for the advice about going to reception and asking to be moved if the caravan isn't up to scratch, we will be staying in a Deluxe caravan I believe, hopefully it will be okay - we probably won't be out too late in the evenings so It's important that the caravan is decent enough for us to feel comfortable. Stayed in some not to nice ones in the past and I find it can bring the atmosphere down a notch.0 -
Bumping this as we're off to Greenacres during half term. Kids (7 & 4) are really looking forward to this as we've never done a Haven holiday before.
I've read that we can get a fun pass and owner's pass (we're renting privately rather than via Haven) that covers us for the week. Just wondering what can kids do during the day?

We went last June - loved it. Lovely clean site and loads of stuff to do.0
