We asked for a replacement, and failing that a refund.

    Yes we will do that.

Yes, that's the most worrying thing, I have been googling around looking for similar cases but have come up empty handed, which leaves us out of pocket and no product.

After phone call with Justmylook, they say the product we have sent back is different (they specifically mentioned the socket) compared to the "genuine" products they have. We have requested photographs showing the differences.

You mention 'the socket' do you mean plug? If it's a non UK plug then it is a fake, contact Babyliss they maybe able to help.

They don't appear to be an authorised dealer.

    - "If the product is advertised as 'dual voltage', this is not a genuine product.
    - Too cheap: If the price looks too good to be true, then it probably is! Our BaByliss Curl Secret RRP is £120 and the BaByliss Pro Perfect Curl is around the £160 mark"
    "
    - If you receive a product that has a non UK plug and has been supplied with a separate adaptor this is not a genuine product. Please do not use and contact us immediately."

"website to see how I could tell the product was genuine, Proper UK plug - the product from this supplier had a Euro plug hidden inside a UK plug adapter!
Only made in the UK - this one was made in PRC.
I had asked several times before I purchased this item if it was genuine and each time the response was YES! This is not a genuine product, do not buy as heaven knows what dangers there are in using this fake product."

The above is a review from Amazon and there are numerous others but the seller isn't named.

Thanks for your reply, the plug is UK but on the box it did say made in P.R.C., does this mean it was a fake product?

They do make things in China, so not necessarily .
I just want to add-the prices quoted by Babyliss there may not be current and as for the other comments , at the moment they are just that, no proof they are true.
Are you sure your fianc!es sister hasn't swapped it?

Since nobody else has mentioned it yet - there's always the possibility of a Section 75 claim against the credit card provider. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • I'm sure my fiancee's sister did not swap it.

Have been in touch with the credit card provider, they're sending a form in the post for us to fill in.

    Thanks for all your replies
