What contingency plans do you have for the problems ahead of us?

Recent forecasts of economic instability have concerned me greatly. I think we will all experience the hardest times since WW2 within the next 12 to 24 months.

I've installed steel shutters on my windows to protect against robbers and looters and I have a safe house in my basement.

What will you be doing? Perhaps we could share some tips?

I spent all my money on beer over Xmas thus ensuring that I have no savings to lose should my bank go bust.

I suggest watching multiple episodes of The Walking Dead to pick up valuable tips. When the SHTF I'm looking up Daryl Dixon and standing behind him.

I'm no longer capable of passing a house without making a mental assessment of how secure it might be against zombies.

If the zombie apocalypse happens I reckon London house prices might fall by 10%.

Does one of your contingency plans relate to MSE usernames? I could swear thrug had been hereabouts for years, now your info says you are a new user. I am confused.

I understand there is an MSE dog that gets ceremoniously eaten on occasions like this - it has been dead for about 5 years so the meat may be a little high by now but under the circumstances it beats starving....
    I think....

Some people have FAR too much time on their hands....

It's amusing me at least to think that someone went to all this trouble to amuse themselves!

Ah! I thought that might be it. Thanks for clarifying.

    BTW, vivatifosi is a "she".
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I can't decide between a tin foil hat and buying gold, so it's a gold foil hat for me!

That and a moat full of holy water.
