Please help I need to organise a cheap group med cruise

Hi

I have been given a task by my family to find a cheap Mediterranean/Spain cruise that we can go on as a family.

I really don't know where to start and thought maybe one of you wonderful people could guide me in the right direction!

  • The holiday is for 15 adults and 5 children.
  • Med Cruise
  • 7 nights
  • Could leave from Southampton or Flight from LGW
  • End on June to or First week in July 2016.

We are looking for a good price.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Mortgage Feb 2015 £178,500 END 2043!!

MFW 2015 £100 /£1000

Watch this space, my MF end date will tumble!!

You can't go for a week from Southampton. It takes that long to get to Girbralter and back.

Try P and O Oceana. They base the ship in the Med which travels between Genoa and Venice over a week then does the trip in reverse calling at different ports in each direction.

Otherwise try a site such as Bolsover Cruise Club to search, but beware European companies such as MSC, Costa may not have many Brits on board and food, entertainment, on board experience and language may be more focussed towards Italians.

American lines such as RCI, Celebrity (same company as RCI) Princess (same operator as P&O, more American) may be more suitable.

Your choice may be limited as there are a fixed number of cabins for families and companies often restrict the number of children in each age group. If one age group is full you won't be able to book.

Cunard have nine nights on Queen Victoria from Southampton on June 23 calling at Gibraltar, Valencia, Barcelona, Cannes, Livorno and Rome from £699pp inc flights home.

Do you regard that as cheap? What's your budget?

I think you need to disclose what you think is 'a good price'.

Also perhaps consider one of the Thomson Cruises ex Palma.

I think Thomson are sailing from Malaga as well this year.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

With such a large group it may be a good idea to look at a larger ship to improve the chances of all adults having similar cabins to avoid any unhappiness about some adults being in a not so good cabin.

Does it need to be West Med or East Med too?

    Majesty & Discovery - Palma
    Dream - Corfu Town
    Celebration - Dubrovnik
    Spirit - Malaga

Cheapest for end of June is the Spirit at £664 pp.

Would also depend on the types of places you want to see, big cities? Small sea side villages?
  • Thank you for your help. £700 would be a good price for everyone's budget. With your assistance it has given me a starting point. Once again thank you.

For £700 I would guess you will be looking at inside cabins ....have you cruised before ? I know someone who had a fairly cheap cruise on MSC last year, and while he said the ship was very nice hrs said they had very little time in the ports so wouldn't sail with them again

Try some of the specialist on-line cruise companies like iglucruise put your dates and the med in the search engine and it shows you what is available
;) If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!
