What is the furthest you have travelled for a job/job interview?

Approximately a 50 mile round trip for an interview. But a one off trip for interview is a lot different from doing it on a daily basis.
I can't quite get my head around people that martyr themselves with really long commutes as the travel costs must offset a huge amount of income and it must be absolutely exhausting to spend many hours per day travelling on top of a full day at work.0 -
Tell me about it, but when your trapped with a mortgage and other debts, you may find you have little choice.
I cant wait for it.0 -

I suppose I'm more thinking of people I know of that do chose to do it but then complain at how exhausting it is. For example those that work in London (for higher wages) but then still can't actually afford to live near the city so end up travelling 2.5 hours per day and spending a fortune on transport. I can't help but wonder if taking a lower wage and living outside of the south east would not provide a healthier lifestyle all things considered.0 -
Hmm, 90 mins each way, its a lot but just depends on how badly you want it and we have to start somewhere, im not sympathetic in that regard as ive been there and done that and if i hadnt done that, I don't believe I'd be where I am today.
I agree with the london thing, some people put money before everything, or take the money then think about practicality afterwards.
Well, i hope i never have to work in London, i just dont like the place.. too busy for me.0 -

I could work locally but would have to take a 40k pay cut to do so, London is where all the decent jobs and interesting projects are (for my sector)
Back to OP, Barcelona was the farthest interview. Decided I didn't want the job half way through the interview.
Longest commutes in distance was from London to Glasgow and London to Amsterdam.
Although I tended to stay over for the week in Amsterdam and come back home every day on the Glasgow job as the flights were so cheap.0 -
I once travelled 550 miles each way for two interviews.
The Job Centre paid my travel expenses the first time, and the employer paid my expenses the second time. Got the job. Came off JSA and my new salary was much higher than my previous (pre JSA) one.
Sometimes travelling is worth it.
I agree with the comments about commuting though. I couldn't do it long term.0 -
