HomeServe - returning customer beware!

I've cancelled my HomeServe cover as they've hiked the price after the first year. No surprise there as it was an introductory offer, but I subsequently asked them a week later if I return at a later date (say after a year with another company), will I get an introductory offer again?

They pretty much said - No, new customers only. In the literal sense! Can they do this? How come I can walk away from other companies and rejoin with introductory offers but not HomeServe? I find this bizarre, even more so, as the original agent that dealt with me cancellation said I COULD rejoin at introductory offers at a later date.

Of course they can. They can put whatever terms on their discounts they want.

Shame. First time I've ever come across such a condition. I've rejoined other companies in the past and always got introductory offers.

So self-insure and save yourself some money. Rejoin in a year, if you must.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

And that's why they don't - its not sustainable business.

Many do the same. First Direct for example.
