And of course if everyone stops spending and starts saving then the economy will be fooked.

There's the irony.
I get a bit sniffy about people wasting money on tat but I invest in companies that produce said tat.
The best outcome for me is if people who might be reliant on me in old age save just enough to keep off means tested benefits and blow the rest. However it's in my best interest that young people spend like there's no tomorrow.0 -
Thrifty/tight or otherwise, you can't save income if you don't have any.If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0

... stop spending money on skiing holidays, on fancy kitchen gadgets, designer handbags, on their Louboutins and Manolo Blahniks
Fancy kitchen gadgets - does my £26 slow cooker count? That's the biggest/baddest/best gadget I've got.
Never had a designer handbag. Usually bags are £2.99 from the market and last 5+ years.
Shoes are cheap/fake crocs and work shoes are sub £10.
I've done all that ...... and still got sweet fanny adams
No pension.
OK, got a house, but that was a fluke.
The viewpoint in the posh paper is aimed at people who are earning enough to make those choices. Many people don't earn enough to be making any choice.0 -

It's not just the cost of the room ... there's the travelling to it - and having to eat out ...and, what do you do? There's nothing to do/enjoy on your own without lots of dosh. Nobody to share experiences with. Pointless travelling.
I have absolutely NO idea what Danothy means/is/was.0 -

I'll pay £10 for one night whenever the tennertastic is on, I'll pay the taxi fare to your local Travelodge and £3 for a Greggs meal deal.
Danothy is a fellow poster who you're going to share the experience with.
Your eyes are about to be opened.

A £3 meal deal. That's a bit extravagant. There's a kettle in the room. Make a Pot Noodle."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -
