Getting my prescription early from Doctor

Hi all
Does anyone know how soon I can request a repeat prescription from my Doctor? I'm due to be away from 23/1 for two weeks and will run out of medication while away, (sleeping tablets).
If I request it for the 22/1 that will mean its nearly 2 weeks early.
Could ask at reception but they are a little unapproachable!
Would they be able to do this for me?
Thanks

I've done it before. About 1-2 weeks early because I was going away. I mentioned why when I phoned the repeat prescription line and they were fine with it.0

Thanks Georgie,
Was asking because i'm sure I read somewhere that the receptionist/doctor couldn't override the computer system, so could not give out a repeat prescription 2 weeks in advance?
Anyone heard of this before?0 -
I think if they check with the doctor whether it's ok or not then they are able to do so.0

You might have problems just because it is for sleeping pills and they tend not to like to hand these out early, in case patients are taking too many of them, or if they are being prescribed for depression related reasons, so that you don't have access to enough at once to do harm to yourself. But in that situation, you should be able to at least get a post dated prescription which can't be filled until your current stock should have run out.
This may not be a conversation you fancy having with a receptionist in public though - so if you are getting uncomfortable with how it is going remember you can ask to discuss it in a more private setting.0 -
As long as the drug is not a controlled drug then they should be fine with it. They get a little worried when you ask for early repeats of controlled drugs.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

If reception are difficult with you request a telephone consultation with a gp. Alternatively put your request in writing.0

The date your next prescription is due should be written on the repeat slip. I doubt if you can get it much earlier than that, but you could ask..left the forum due to trolling/other nonsense

I've never had a problem, although I usually speak to the doctor or nurse practitioner about it.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I have done this on numerous occasions. I just write "Submitted early due to holiday, thank you" on the repeat.
It has never been an issue although my medication is not for sleeping tablets.0 -
I have done this when I would be away when my prescription is due. The problem may be as it's selling tablets but they may be willing to give a post dated prescription.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
